Baked Brie with Honey and Garlic
Rich, creamy, garlicky and buttery, this baked Brie with honey and garlic is a delicious appetizer perfect for entertaining! A wheel of Brie is topped with copious amounts of roasted garlic and herb butter and baked until perfectly melty.
Team it up with crackers and crostini, and you’ve got a total crowd pleaser! I love teaming these up with some of my oven roasted grapes and a sprinkle of homemade herb salt to finish it up.

I’m a big sucker for appetizers that are easy to make, and yet, taste and look nothing less than stunning.
My upside down onion tarts and filo pastry cheese rolls were both big hits, but I really wanted to try something that needed just minutes of hands-on prep time. And that’s when I thought about this savory baked Brie.

What's So Great About the Recipe?
- It is easy and delicious, and pretty versatile too. It is perfect for large parties and get-togethers- just like Bruschetta dip.
- Even if you’re not a big fan of Brie, you’ll love how the garlic butter jazzes it up and takes it to the next level.
Recipe Ingredients

Brie: You’ll need a wheel of Brie cheese with its rind on to make this baked appetizer. Use the best quality cheese that you can get your hands on- it really is the star ingredient after all.
Hot honey: A light drizzle of hot honey can add some beautiful flavors to this creamy cheese. It takes just a few minutes to make hot honey from scratch. Try using jalapeno honey or habanero honey.
Roasted garlic: I used my easy Air Fryer roasted garlic, which I always make in a batch and freeze for later. If you love garlic, I would highly recommend trying this out.
Flaky salt: And of course, you’ll need some salt to bring out the savory flavors of the other ingredients. I used flaky sea salt for that extra oomph.
Butter: Unsalted butter will form the base of the garlic butter that we’ll be drizzling over the top of the Brie.
Herbs: Herbs can really add that hint of subtle flavor to this cheesy appetizer. I used fresh thyme and rosemary, but you could also experiment with other herbs of your choice.
See recipe card for quantities.
Substitutions & Variations
- I used melted butter to form the base for the garlic butter, but you could also use extra virgin olive oil instead.
- Don’t have the time to make roasted garlic? Finely minced garlic can do the trick too.
- You can play around with the toppings too. I like to drizzle some of my spicy Italian dipping oil or my lemon butter caper sauce sometimes if I have them at hand.

How to Make Baked Brie with Honey and Garlic

Start by scoring the top of the Brie in a crosshatch pattern with a knife, about halfway into the center.

Preheat the oven to 350° F. Place the wheel of Brie in a baking dish.

In a small bowl, combine garlic with melted butter, herbs, salt and hot honey.

Now drizzle the garlic butter mixture, not just into the crosshatch, but also around the Brie.
Bake for 15 minutes until it is nice and melty in the center. Serve immediately.
💭Top Tip
If you don’t have hot honey, you can choose to season the cheese with some red pepper flakes or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to bring a bit of heat.

Tips & Tricks to Nail the Recipe
- You might need to bake the Brie for slightly longer if you have a bigger wheel. Check the cheese at the 20 minute mark. The idea is to bake it until the Brie is melted.
- If you’re not too fond of the rind on the Brie, you can choose to remove it too. Just remember that the rind is actually edible, and brings a nice textural contrast to the melty cheese.
- Depending on your personal taste preference, you can also add some other seasonings and herbs of your choice. Basil, oregano and parsley are all good choices.
- For the perfect Italian flavors, you can also use some garlic bread seasoning to add extra flavor to this perfect appetizer.
- I also like to top the Brie with some of my favorite tomato garlic confit when I’ve run out of my roasted garlic, and it turns out absolutely delicious!
How to Serve Garlic Butter Baked Brie
This delicious baked Brie is one of my favorite party appetizer recipes, and that’s simply because of how easy it is to put together.
You can serve it as a part of a cheese board and team it up with marinated carrots or marinated artichokes and some Cretan Dakos.

Troubleshooting &FAQs
You can! Choose a soft cheese and make sure you use an oven proof pan. Depending on the kind of cheese you’re using, the baking time can vary between 5-20 minutes.
Just make sure the cheese is nice and gooey, and doesn’t end up burning. I would highly recommend trying baked Camembert - it can be a wonderful holiday appetizer.
The key to getting the perfect depth of flavor and to make sure the cheese is melted, is to score the wheel. Doing this gives the cheese the chance to expand and melt while it is in the oven, and also gets those beautiful and delicious flavors to seep inside the cheesy goodness.
If you have any leftovers, transfer them to a microwave-safe bowl or container and refrigerate it. It should stay fresh for 3-4 days.
